AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented that changes the eh_noresume flag to a regular boolean accessed atomically and snapshots its value once per error handling iteration. Users should apply the official Linux kernel patch that addresses this race condition to prevent runtime PM usage count underflow. Since this is a kernel-level issue, updating to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation.

Description

A race condition in the Linux kernel SCSI core error handling can cause a runtime power management (PM) usage count underflow. This occurs because the shost->eh_noresume flag is checked twice during error handling without proper synchronization, leading to an unmatched runtime PM put operation. The issue is fixed by making the flag a regular boolean accessed atomically and snapshotting it once per error handling iteration.
