Published: 10/20/2026 (10/20/2026, 00:46:08 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: chatchat-space
Product: Langchain-Chatchat

Description

Langchain-Chatchat versions up to 0.3.1.3 contain a critical vulnerability where the POST /tools/call API endpoint lacks authentication. This allows remote attackers to invoke any registered tool, including the always-registered shell tool, enabling arbitrary OS command execution as the server user, which is root in the default Docker image.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-75128 describes a missing authentication vulnerability in Langchain-Chatchat through version 0.3.1.3. The POST /tools/call API endpoint can be accessed without any authentication, allowing attackers to specify the shell tool by name and execute arbitrary operating system commands with root privileges in the shipped Docker environment. This represents a critical security flaw due to the combination of unauthenticated access and root-level command execution.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated remote attacker can execute arbitrary OS commands as root on the server hosting Langchain-Chatchat, potentially leading to full system compromise, data theft, or service disruption. The vulnerability is critical given the root privilege level and lack of authentication required to exploit it.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict network access to the vulnerable API endpoint and avoid deploying the affected versions in production environments.
