A fix is available that limits the index header and entry counts to the maximum a page can hold and prevents following index pages that refer back to parent pages. Users should upgrade to fixed versions of LibreOffice.

Description

CVE-2026-76181 is a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in LibreOffice's dBASE database driver. The flaw occurs when reading dBASE index pages, where the number of entries is not properly validated against the page capacity. This can lead to out-of-bounds writes and potentially infinite recursion if an index page refers back to itself. The issue affects LibreOffice versions 26.2 and 26.8. The vulnerability has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 5.4. Fixes have been implemented to limit entry counts and prevent recursive page references.
