Published: 07/10/2026 (07/10/2026, 20:50:27 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Imagination Technologies
Product: Graphics DDK

Description

Software installed and run as a non-privileged user may conduct a sequence of improper GPU system calls causing use after free, which helps in facilitating unprivileged memory access from a shader code. Triggering failure path in the MMU mapping logic by a malicious code could lead to incomplete cleanup of an internal driver state, allowing for future unauthorized access to the contents of the physical memory.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-7639) in Imagination Technologies Graphics DDK involves improper GPU system calls executed by non-privileged users that trigger a failure in the MMU mapping logic. This causes incomplete cleanup of internal driver state, resulting in use-after-free conditions. Consequently, malicious shader code may gain unauthorized access to physical memory contents. The issue is classified under CWE-459 (Incomplete Cleanup). No remediation level or patch information is currently available.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an unprivileged user to cause use-after-free conditions in the GPU driver, facilitating unauthorized access to physical memory contents. This can lead to full confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts on the affected system's memory, as indicated by the CVSS vector (C:H/I:H/A:H).

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or workaround has been documented at this time.
