Technical Analysis

This vulnerability affects HPE EdgeConnect SD-WAN Gateways and enables an unauthenticated attacker with adjacent network access to cause a denial-of-service condition. Exploitation results in system crashes that prevent automatic reboot, thereby disrupting network availability. The CVSS v3.1 score is 8.6, reflecting a high impact on availability with no impact on confidentiality or integrity. The affected versions are 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.8.2, 9.5.0.0 through 9.5.8.1, 9.6.0.0 through 9.6.3.1, and exactly 9.7.0.0.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation leads to denial of service by crashing the EdgeConnect SD-WAN Gateway system. The system does not reboot automatically after the crash and requires manual intervention, resulting in network disruption. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch or official fix is available, restrict adjacent network access to the affected devices to trusted entities only to reduce exposure to unauthenticated attackers.
