Technical Analysis

This vulnerability allows an authenticated remote attacker with limited access to the HPE EdgeConnect SD-WAN Gateway's web management interface to inject commands via crafted input. Successful exploitation can result in execution of arbitrary commands with elevated privileges or denial-of-service conditions on the appliance. The affected versions include firmware releases from 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.8.2, 9.5.0.0 through 9.5.8.1, 9.6.0.0 through 9.6.3.1, and exactly 9.7.0.0.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability can cause denial-of-service or allow execution of arbitrary commands with elevated privileges, potentially disrupting network operations or compromising the affected appliance. There is no indication of confidentiality or integrity impact. No known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the web management interface to trusted administrators only and monitor for suspicious activity.
