Description

CVE-2026-76790 is a reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Estatik Real Estate Plugin for WordPress. Versions from 4.0.1 up to but not including 4.3.5 do not properly sanitize and escape certain values decoded from a request parameter before including them in an unauthenticated AJAX response. This flaw allows an attacker to inject malicious scripts that could be executed in the context of a victim's browser.

Technical Analysis

The Estatik Real Estate Plugin for WordPress before version 4.3.5 contains a reflected XSS vulnerability (CWE-79). The plugin fails to sanitize and escape multiple values decoded from a request parameter, which are then reflected back in an unauthenticated AJAX response. This improper handling of input allows attackers to craft malicious requests that execute arbitrary scripts in the victim's browser when the AJAX response is processed.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of users visiting the affected site, potentially leading to session hijacking, defacement, or other client-side attacks. The vulnerability is exploitable without authentication via AJAX requests.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Estatik Real Estate Plugin to version 4.3.5 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigation guidance is provided. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed by a vendor advisory, but the version range indicates the fix is included starting at 4.3.5.
