Technical Analysis

SAP Integration Suite does not properly restrict XML External Entity (XXE) references in certain internal components. An attacker with low privileges can submit specially crafted XML payloads containing malicious external entity declarations. Exploitation could allow reading sensitive files on the server exposed via monitoring or logging outputs, causing a high confidentiality impact. Additionally, it may cause resource exhaustion resulting in a low availability impact. There is no integrity impact. No patch or remediation information is currently available, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can disclose sensitive file contents on the server, leading to a high confidentiality impact. It can also cause resource exhaustion, resulting in a low impact on availability. There is no impact on data integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the SAP Integration Suite and monitor for suspicious XML payloads where possible.
