Description

CVE-2026-76967 is a deserialization vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Business Client version 8.10. The application does not sufficiently validate certain locally stored data during startup, allowing a low-privileged local attacker to replace this data with crafted content. When the application is launched, this crafted content can be processed, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution with the user's privileges. This vulnerability impacts confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the application and is rated with a high severity score of 7.8.

Technical Analysis

SAP NetWeaver Business Client 8.10 suffers from a CWE-502 deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability. The application fails to properly validate locally stored data during startup, which an attacker with low local privileges can replace with maliciously crafted content. Upon the next launch, the application processes this content, enabling arbitrary code execution in the context of the user. This vulnerability affects confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

Potential Impact

An attacker with low privileges on the local system can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running SAP NetWeaver Business Client. This compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the application and potentially the underlying system environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is currently available for this vulnerability. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict local access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to SAP NetWeaver Business Client startup data.
