Vendor/Project: drakkan
Product: sftpgo

Description

SFTPGo is an open source, event-driven file transfer solution. Prior to 2.7.5, an authenticated SSH user can send a malformed protocol message while opening a channel, causing an unhandled error that terminates the server process and affects all connected users until restart. Technical Analysis

SFTPGo versions before 2.7.5 contain an improper validation of array index (CWE-129) vulnerability. An authenticated SSH user can exploit this by sending a malformed protocol message when opening a channel, which triggers an unhandled error that crashes the server process. This denial of service affects all connected users until the server is restarted. No confidentiality or integrity impact has been identified. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 6.5 (medium severity) and is resolved in version 2.7.5.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in a denial of service by terminating the SFTPGo server process, disrupting service for all connected users until a manual restart occurs. There is no impact on data confidentiality or integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade SFTPGo to version 2.7.5 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No additional mitigation is required as the issue is resolved in the official patch.
