Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-77782 is an information exposure vulnerability (CWE-200) in the Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin. Versions prior to 1.0.277.1 fail to check if a post is password protected before including its content in SEO metadata that is publicly generated. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to read the content of posts that are intended to be password protected, potentially exposing sensitive information.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of content from password-protected posts. While it does not allow modification or denial of service, the confidentiality of protected content is compromised. The CVSS score of 5.3 (medium severity) reflects the limited impact to confidentiality without integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is released, users should consider disabling the plugin or restricting access to the SEO metadata endpoints if possible.
