Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-78361 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the zipMoney (Zip Co) Payments Plugin for WooCommerce WordPress plugin prior to version 2.4.0. The plugin fails to perform authorization checks on a front-end request handler and does not restrict which option name a caller may supply. This allows unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary WordPress options, which can disrupt site and access control configurations, deactivate all installed zipMoney plugins, and cause site downtime.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can delete arbitrary WordPress options, leading to destruction of critical site and access control configurations. This can result in the deactivation of all installed zipMoney plugins and potentially taking the entire site offline, causing denial of service and administrative disruption.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the affected plugin's front-end request handlers and monitor for suspicious activity. Avoid using versions prior to 2.4.0 in production environments.
