Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-78478 is a Local File Inclusion vulnerability (CWE-98) in the Mane theme for WordPress. It affects all versions up to and including 1.7. The flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to include and execute arbitrary files on the server, including PHP code embedded in files that might otherwise be considered safe, such as images. This can lead to unauthorized code execution, access control bypass, and exposure of sensitive data.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can result in remote code execution with no privileges required and no user interaction needed. Confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system can be fully compromised. Attackers can bypass access controls and execute arbitrary PHP code, potentially leading to complete server takeover.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch is currently documented. Until a patch is available, restrict access to vulnerable endpoints and monitor for suspicious activity related to file inclusion attempts.
