CVE-2026-78633: Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') in Okta Okta RADIUS Agent
Description
CVE-2026-78633 is a vulnerability in the Okta RADIUS Agent where the software does not validate the length of sub-attributes when parsing Vendor-Specific attributes. Specifically, a sub-attribute length of zero causes the parser to enter an infinite loop, leading to exhaustion of worker threads and denial of new RADIUS authentication requests.

Technical Analysis
The Okta RADIUS Agent fails to validate sub-attribute lengths in Vendor-Specific attributes during parsing. When a sub-attribute length is zero, the parser loops indefinitely, causing worker-thread exhaustion. This results in a denial of service by preventing new RADIUS authentication requests from being processed. The vulnerability affects versions from 2.17.5 up to but not including 2.28.0. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 6.5, indicating a medium severity denial-of-service impact with no confidentiality or integrity loss.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation causes denial of service by exhausting worker threads in the Okta RADIUS Agent, preventing new RADIUS authentication requests from being handled. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity, only availability is affected.
Mitigation Recommendations
No patch or official fix information is provided in the input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider limiting exposure of the Okta RADIUS Agent to untrusted sources or monitoring for anomalous RADIUS traffic that may exploit this parsing issue.
