Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in cleverbrush framework versions 4.0 through 4.4.0 involves improper control over modifications to object prototype attributes within the deepExtend function. This flaw can be remotely exploited without privileges or user interaction, potentially leading to partial confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 6.9 (medium severity). The vendor has released version 4.4.1 to address this issue, identified by patch 810398c1308c500c3b8b6af380b5a89371389327.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to improperly modify object prototype attributes remotely, which can lead to partial compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. The vulnerability does not require privileges or user interaction, increasing its risk profile. However, no known exploits are reported in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the cleverbrush framework to version 4.4.1 or later, which contains the official fix for this vulnerability. No other mitigations are specified or required once the upgrade is applied.
