Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Google Chrome's Network component allows an attacker with control over the renderer process to leak sensitive information via a specially crafted HTML page. The issue affects Chrome versions before 152.0.7977.65. The CVSS 3.1 vector indicates the attack requires network access, high attack complexity, no privileges, user interaction, and impacts confidentiality but not integrity or availability. Google has published a stable channel update that fixes this vulnerability in version 152.0.7977.65.

Potential Impact

An attacker who has already compromised the renderer process can exploit this vulnerability to obtain sensitive information from the browser. This could lead to exposure of confidential data but does not affect integrity or availability of the system. The medium severity reflects the limited scope requiring prior compromise of the renderer process and user interaction.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should update Google Chrome to version 152.0.7977.65 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No additional mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
