Description

An improper access control vulnerability in x-ui 0.3.2 allows any authenticated panel user to modify the xray configuration template and trigger a panel restart. This causes the xray management gRPC service, normally bound to loopback addresses only, to be rebound to non-loopback addresses, expanding its network exposure beyond the intended local-only boundary.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-79316 describes an improper access control vulnerability in x-ui version 0.3.2. Authenticated users of the panel can alter the xray configuration template via the settings interface and restart the panel. This restart regenerates the xray management gRPC service binding, changing it from the default loopback interface to non-loopback addresses. As a result, the management interface becomes accessible beyond the local machine, increasing the attack surface.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability expands the network exposure of the xray management gRPC service from local-only to potentially remote-accessible interfaces. This could allow unauthorized network-based interactions with the management service if an attacker gains authenticated access to the panel, potentially leading to further compromise or unauthorized control.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict authenticated panel user access to trusted personnel only and monitor for unauthorized configuration changes. Avoid exposing the management interface to non-loopback networks.
