A fix is available in MasterStudy LMS plugin version 3.7.50. Users should update to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. Since the vulnerability is patched, no additional mitigation steps are required.
Description
The MasterStudy LMS WordPress plugin before version 3.7.50 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows authenticated users with Subscriber-level privileges to import arbitrary WXR XML files. This occurs due to insufficient validation of the stm_lms_step parameter in the stm_lms_import_sample_data AJAX action, which lacks capability checks and nonce verification. Exploiting this flaw enables attackers to traverse the file system, reference accessible WXR files, and publish posts with attacker-controlled content under their identity.
