A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to prevent the infinite loop vulnerability. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update to patched kernel versions as provided by their Linux distribution.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ims-pcu driver was fixed to prevent a potential infinite loop during CDC union descriptor parsing. The issue arose because the driver did not verify that the bLength field of each descriptor was at least 2, allowing a malicious device to cause an infinite loop by providing a descriptor with bLength = 0. This flaw was addressed by adding a check to ensure bLength is at least 2 before parsing. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to fix this issue.
