A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to fix the out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the ntfs3 driver. The vendor advisory confirms that the issue has been resolved. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their Linux distribution.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ntfs3 driver allowed an out-of-bounds read due to missing bounds checking in the decompress_lznt() function. This flaw could be triggered by a corrupted NTFS3 image containing invalid compressed data. The issue has been fixed by adding proper index bounds validation to prevent out-of-bounds access.
