A patch is available that fixes the vulnerability by updating the tlclk driver cleanup process. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. The vendor advisory confirms the availability of this patch. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the update.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's tlclk driver was fixed by improving the module cleanup process. The issue involved the absence of the .owner field in the file_operations structure, allowing unsafe module unloading while the device was in use. The cleanup function also freed memory before ensuring blocked processes were awakened and timers deleted. The patch sets the .owner field, wakes all blocked readers, releases hardware I/O regions properly, and deletes timers synchronously before freeing memory.
