An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to resolve this issue. Users should update to the fixed versions as indicated by their distribution's security advisories. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's cxl/fwctl component was fixed to address a runtime assertion triggered by a false positive buffer overflow detection in the cxlctl_get_supported_features() function. The issue involved a potential buffer overflow warning from Fortify due to improper initialization of a variable, which was resolved by initializing the variable earlier to prevent the false positive. This flaw has been patched in affected Linux kernel versions.
