A patch is available that fixes this vulnerability by properly managing the reference count of FLB data. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix to affected versions. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's liveupdate subsystem was resolved by incrementing the reference count of incoming File-Lifecycle-Bound (FLB) data. This prevents the FLB structure from being freed while still in use during live updates, such as device enumeration. The fix adds a function to explicitly release the FLB data when no longer needed, ensuring data validity and preventing use-after-free bugs.
