A patch is available for this vulnerability. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates for the affected linux-azure versions listed. After updating, a system reboot is required to ensure the fix is applied. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i2c amd-mp2 driver was resolved. The issue occurs because the driver stores a platform I2C context callback before the adapter is registered. If the adapter registration fails, the context is freed but the driver may still dereference a stale pointer in IRQ and system-sleep callbacks, leading to potential system compromise. This flaw has been fixed by unregistering the callback before returning the error. Multiple specific linux-azure kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to address this issue.
