A patch is available that fixes the circular locking dependency by changing the lock acquisition order in ocfs2_dio_end_io_write(). Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A circular locking dependency vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's OCFS2 filesystem code. The issue involved a deadlock scenario caused by the order in which three system inode locks (INODE_ALLOC_SYSTEM_INODE, EXTENT_ALLOC_SYSTEM_INODE, and ORPHAN_DIR_SYSTEM_INODE) were acquired across different functions. This could lead to a deadlock condition in the kernel. The fix breaks the circular dependency by releasing one lock before acquiring another, preventing the deadlock.
