A patch is available that disables DMA for the kernel console UART in the serial msm driver, preventing the race condition. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. No additional action is required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's serial msm driver for the kernel console UART has been resolved. Concurrent writes from userspace and the kernel to the console could cause an infinite loop of repeated console messages, primarily during system startup or shutdown. The issue arises because asynchronous DMA transfers initiated by userspace can collide with kernel printk operations reconfiguring the UART controller, causing zero progress in the DMA engine and repeated console output. The fix disables DMA for the console UART instance to ensure reliable output, especially during critical system states.
