AI-suggested
A fix is available that rejects out-of-bounds EEPROM address responses before copying data. Users should update their Linux kernel to versions that include this patch. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official kernel updates from the vendor or distribution is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 WiFi driver (mt7915) allows a malicious or malfunctioning device to cause a 16-byte out-of-bounds write in the EEPROM data buffer. This occurs because the driver copies EFUSE data at an offset controlled by the device without proper bounds checking. The issue has been resolved by rejecting responses with addresses that would cause out-of-bounds writes.
