Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-8117 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability affecting SourceCodester Pizzafy Ecommerce System 1.0. The flaw exists due to insufficient sanitization of the 'page' parameter in the /admin/index.php file, enabling remote attackers to inject and execute arbitrary scripts in the context of the affected application. This vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction beyond visiting a crafted URL. The CVSS 4.0 vector indicates network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, partial user interaction, and low impact on integrity and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary scripts in the context of the affected web application, potentially leading to session hijacking, defacement, or other malicious actions within the user's browser session. However, the impact is limited to the scope of the XSS and does not directly affect system integrity or availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, it is recommended to apply input validation and output encoding on the 'page' parameter in /admin/index.php to prevent script injection. Monitor vendor channels for updates or patches addressing this vulnerability.
