Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-81626 is a SQL injection vulnerability (CWE-89) affecting IBM Guardium Data Protection 12.2. The vulnerability exists in the Load Balancer Groups component, where the Load Balancer Servlet endpoint does not properly neutralize special elements in SQL commands. This allows unauthenticated users to inject SQL statements, potentially leading to unauthorized data access and system compromise. The CVSS v3.1 score is 8.6, reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges or user interaction required, and impacts confidentiality (high), integrity (low), and availability (low).

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the backend database through the Load Balancer Servlet endpoint. This can result in unauthorized access to sensitive data and may affect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation guidance is currently provided by the vendor. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the IBM vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the Load Balancer Servlet endpoint and monitor for suspicious activity related to SQL injection attempts.
