Vendor/Project: Red Hat
Product: Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4

Description

A flaw was found in oauth-proxy. The application fails to properly validate the destination redirect parameter (`rd`) during post-login redirection. Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4's oauth-proxy allows an attacker to exploit improper validation of the post-login redirect parameter (`rd`). When a user follows a specially crafted link, they may be redirected to an untrusted external site after authentication. This open redirect can be abused to conduct phishing attacks or steal credentials by misleading users about the destination site.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in users being redirected to arbitrary external websites after login, which can be used to facilitate phishing attacks or credential theft. The vulnerability does not directly compromise system confidentiality, integrity, or availability but poses a risk to user trust and security.

Mitigation Recommendations

No explicit patch or remediation status is provided in the vendor advisory. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the Red Hat advisory at https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-83589 for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is applied, users should be cautious about following unexpected links that involve authentication redirects.
