Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-84169 is an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-639) in the UPI QR Code Payment Gateway WordPress plugin versions up to and including 1.4.3. The plugin fails to validate that payment-confirmation requests are legitimately associated with the corresponding order and customer. This allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate the payment status of arbitrary orders, marking them as paid without performing any actual payment transaction.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to fraudulently mark orders as paid, potentially resulting in financial loss for merchants using the plugin. Since no authentication or proper verification is performed, attackers can bypass payment confirmation controls entirely.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, users should consider disabling the plugin or restricting access to payment confirmation endpoints if possible.
