CVE-2026-84205: Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key in growilabs growi
Description
GROWI contains an access control vulnerability in the GET /_api/v3/revisions/:id endpoint that validates access against a query parameter but returns the revision identified by the path parameter without confirming they reference the same page. Authenticated attackers can pair a page identifier they can access with an arbitrary revision identifier to read revision content from pages they lack permission to view.

Technical Analysis
The vulnerability in GROWI affects the GET /_api/v3/revisions/:id endpoint. The access control mechanism validates permissions against a query parameter representing a page identifier, but the endpoint returns the revision identified by the path parameter without confirming that the revision belongs to the authorized page. This flaw enables authenticated users with limited privileges to bypass authorization controls and read revision content from pages they are not authorized to access by pairing a page ID they can access with a revision ID from another page.
Potential Impact
Authenticated attackers with limited privileges can bypass access controls to read revision content from pages they are not authorized to view. This leads to unauthorized disclosure of potentially sensitive page revision data. There is no indication of privilege escalation or other impacts beyond unauthorized read access to revision content.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or temporary workaround has been documented at this time. Until a patch is available, restrict authenticated user permissions as much as possible and monitor for unusual access patterns related to revision retrieval.
