Red Hat advises restricting access to the IIOP service on TCP port 3528 to trusted networks using firewall rules, or disabling the IIOP subsystem if CORBA functionality is not required. For example, using firewalld to remove port 3528: 'firewall-cmd --permanent --remove-port=3528/tcp' followed by 'firewall-cmd --reload'. Disabling the IIOP subsystem requires editing the JBoss EAP configuration (standalone.xml or domain.xml) and restarting the server, which causes temporary downtime. These mitigations prevent exploitation by limiting or removing external access to the vulnerable service.
Description
CVE-2026-84725 is a vulnerability in Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7 when run with the Java Security Manager enabled. It allows unauthenticated remote attackers to load and instantiate arbitrary classes from a remote URL via the openjdk-orb's JDKBridge during object unmarshalling on TCP port 3528 before security interceptors execute. This can lead to remote code execution if the IIOP service is exposed externally. Mitigations include restricting access to port 3528 to trusted networks or disabling the IIOP subsystem if not needed.
