Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-84737 is an improper authentication vulnerability (CWE-287) in the Freeton WP WordPress plugin through version 1.0.0. The plugin fails to correctly validate the activation code during user authentication, enabling attackers without credentials to impersonate any user by knowing their email address. This flaw compromises the authentication mechanism, potentially granting unauthorized access to privileged accounts.

Potential Impact

An attacker can gain unauthorized access to any user account, including administrator accounts, by exploiting the improper validation of the activation code. This can lead to full compromise of the affected WordPress site, including data theft, site defacement, or further malicious activity under the guise of legitimate users.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix is currently documented for this vulnerability. Users of the Freeton WP plugin up to version 1.0.0 should monitor the vendor's advisory channels for updates. Until a fix is available, consider disabling the plugin or restricting access to the affected functionality to trusted users only.
