Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-85118 describes a vulnerability in the AI Content Generator Marketing WordPress plugin (versions up to 1.0.0) where some AJAX actions lack proper nonce or capability verification. This improper privilege management (CWE-269) allows unauthenticated attackers to modify or delete WordPress options arbitrarily. Such unauthorized modifications can be leveraged to escalate privileges and gain administrator access to the site.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to update or delete WordPress options without authentication, potentially leading to full administrative control over the affected WordPress site. This compromises site integrity, confidentiality, and availability by allowing unauthorized configuration changes and privilege escalation.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the plugin's AJAX endpoints if possible and monitor for suspicious activity related to option changes. Avoid using versions up to 1.0.0 of the AI Content Generator Marketing plugin in production environments.
