Published: 09/04/2026 (09/04/2026, 11:29:52 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: siyuan-note
Product: siyuan

Description

SiYuan versions before 3.8.2 have a denial of service vulnerability in the publish-service Basic Auth throttle mechanism. The flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to submit repeated authentication requests with unique invalid usernames, causing memory exhaustion and increased synchronization overhead. This degrades service availability by allocating resources without limits or eviction policies.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-85584 affects SiYuan note-taking software versions prior to 3.8.2. The vulnerability resides in the Basic Auth throttle of the publish-service, which tracks failed authentication attempts by storing state keyed by attacker-controlled usernames. Because there are no capacity limits or eviction policies, an attacker can flood the service with unique invalid usernames, leading to unbounded memory consumption and synchronization overhead. This results in a denial of service condition, impairing the availability of the affected service.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service by exhausting memory resources and increasing synchronization overhead in the publish-service. This degrades the availability of the SiYuan service, potentially causing service interruptions or crashes.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in SiYuan version 3.8.2. Users should upgrade to version 3.8.2 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided.
