CVE-2026-85609: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in Openpanel-dev openpanel

Medium
Published: 09/04/2026 (09/04/2026, 11:30:06 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Openpanel-dev
Product: openpanel

Description

Openpanel before 2.3.0 contains an unauthenticated full-read server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the GET /tools/site-checker endpoint (apps/api/src/controllers/tools.controller.ts). The endpoint passes a user-supplied url query parameter to fetchWithRedirects() and performs server-side HTTP requests to arbitrary URLs without any SSRF/IP validation. An unauthenticated remote attacker can access cloud instance metadata endpoints, probe internal services, scan internal network ports, and read returned content (status code, page size, timing, and parsed HTML metadata), and leak internal IP addresses (via getIPInfo() to a third party).

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Openpanel versions prior to 2.3.0 exists in the GET /tools/site-checker endpoint, which accepts a user-supplied URL parameter passed to the fetchWithRedirects() function without SSRF or IP validation. This allows unauthenticated remote attackers to perform server-side HTTP requests to arbitrary URLs, including internal cloud metadata endpoints and internal network services. Attackers can retrieve response details such as status code, page size, timing, and parsed HTML metadata, and leak internal IP addresses via the getIPInfo() function to third parties.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this SSRF vulnerability to access sensitive internal resources such as cloud instance metadata endpoints and internal network services. This can lead to information disclosure including internal IP addresses and service details. The vulnerability may facilitate further attacks on internal infrastructure by enabling network reconnaissance.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the vulnerable endpoint and implement network-level controls to limit server-side HTTP requests to trusted destinations. Monitor for unusual requests to the /tools/site-checker endpoint.
