Published: 06/04/2026 (06/04/2026, 01:26:45 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: StylemixThemes
Product: MasterStudy LMS Pro

Description

The MasterStudy LMS Pro Plus plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to generic SQL Injection via the 'columns' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.8.20 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with instructor-level access or above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-8653 is an SQL Injection vulnerability in StylemixThemes MasterStudy LMS Pro plugin for WordPress. The issue exists in the 'columns' parameter due to improper neutralization of special elements in SQL commands, allowing authenticated instructors or higher to inject additional SQL queries. This vulnerability affects all plugin versions up to and including 4.8.20. Exploitation could lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive database information. No official patch or remediation guidance is currently documented.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated instructor-level privileges or higher can exploit this vulnerability to inject arbitrary SQL commands via the 'columns' parameter. This can result in unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information from the database. The vulnerability does not impact availability or integrity but compromises confidentiality. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict instructor-level access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to SQL query manipulation.
