Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-86706 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Quick quotes WordPress plugin versions up to and including 1.0.0. The plugin fails to perform any capability or nonce verification on an AJAX action, enabling unauthenticated attackers to select which option is written. This can lead to unauthorized modification of site settings and potentially render the site unavailable.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can alter arbitrary site settings via the vulnerable AJAX action, which may result in site misconfiguration or denial of service by making the site unavailable.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the plugin's AJAX endpoints if possible or disable the plugin to prevent exploitation.
