AI-suggested
Upgrade the Community Events plugin to version 1.6.0 or later, where the vulnerability has been fixed. Applying this official update will ensure proper authorization checks and escaping of submitted data, mitigating the XSS risk.
Description
The Community Events WordPress plugin versions from 1.4.9 up to but not including 1.6.0 contain a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This flaw arises because the plugin does not perform authorization or nonce checks on public event submissions and fails to properly escape several submitted values before displaying them in the admin dashboard and public calendar. As a result, unauthenticated users can inject arbitrary scripts that execute in the browsers of administrators reviewing these submissions. The issue is fixed in version 1.6.0.
