Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-86803 describes a code injection vulnerability in the Ocean Extra WordPress plugin. The issue arises because the plugin does not properly validate user-supplied input before executing it via the do_shortcode function. This allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary shortcodes, potentially leading to limited confidentiality and integrity impacts. The vulnerability affects all versions from 0 through 2.6.0 inclusive.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary shortcodes within the WordPress environment. This can lead to limited confidentiality and integrity impacts, such as unauthorized content manipulation or disclosure of information accessible via shortcode execution. There is no indication of availability impact or active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix information is provided in the input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the plugin and consider disabling it if possible to prevent exploitation.
