Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: e4jvikwp
Product: VikAppointments Services Booking Calendar

Description

The VikAppointments Services Booking Calendar plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the extract function in all versions up to, and including, 1.2.21. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php). Exploitation requires at least one File-type custom field to be published on the confirmation page shortcode, as this field is not created by default during plugin installation.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-87115 is a path traversal vulnerability (CWE-22) in the extract function of the VikAppointments Services Booking Calendar plugin for WordPress. The vulnerability arises from insufficient validation of file paths, enabling unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on the server. This affects all versions up to and including 1.2.21. Exploitation requires the presence of at least one File-type custom field on the confirmation page shortcode, which is not created by default during installation. The impact includes potential remote code execution if critical files like wp-config.php are deleted.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can delete arbitrary files on the server hosting the vulnerable plugin. This can lead to denial of service and potentially remote code execution if key files such as wp-config.php are deleted. The vulnerability has a high CVSS score of 9.1, indicating critical severity with high impact on integrity and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix is currently documented. Users should verify the vendor advisory for updates. Until a fix is available, avoid publishing File-type custom fields on the confirmation page shortcode to reduce exposure. Monitor vendor channels for official remediation guidance.
