Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves insufficient API bounds checking in the phalFelica module of NXP's NXPNfcRdLib RC663 library versions before 07.18.00. An out-of-bounds write could occur, enabling an attacker with appropriate privileges or an untrusted third party to access memory regions beyond intended boundaries. This may lead to limited impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The problem is resolved in versions 07.18.00 and later.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows limited unauthorized access to memory, which could result in a limited loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. The CVSS score of 3.9 (low severity) reflects the requirement for high privileges and local attack vector, limiting the exploitability and impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to NXP NXPNfcRdLib RC663 version 07.18.00 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigation or temporary fix is indicated.
