Technical Analysis

The Rox Appointment Booking WordPress plugin prior to version 1.2.0 contains an improper access control vulnerability (CWE-284). It does not perform server-side verification of the order total or payment method when processing bookings. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can create bookings with manipulated prices and circumvent payment method restrictions, potentially leading to unauthorized bookings and financial impact.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can create confirmed bookings at arbitrary prices, bypassing configured payment method restrictions. This could lead to financial loss or abuse of the booking system by allowing unauthorized or discounted bookings without proper payment validation.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation information is provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the booking functionality or implement additional server-side validation to verify order totals and payment methods.
