Technical Analysis
The Product Feed for Google Shopping, Microsoft Advertising and 40+ Channels for WooCommerce Merchant WordPress plugin versions prior to 5.3.2 do not enforce nonce or capability verification on an AJAX action responsible for registering the store with its feed service. This improper access control (CWE-284) permits unauthenticated users to invoke the registration process, causing the stored shop secret to be overwritten without authorization.
Potential Impact
Unauthenticated attackers can force the store to re-register with the feed service, overwriting the stored shop secret. This could potentially disrupt the store's integration with advertising and shopping channels, impacting functionality and possibly enabling further unauthorized actions tied to the compromised secret.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade the Product Feed for Google Shopping, Microsoft Advertising and 40+ Channels for WooCommerce Merchant plugin to version 5.3.2 or later, where this issue is fixed. No other mitigation guidance is provided; applying the official fix is recommended.
