Description

WookTeam versions 1.6.6 and earlier contain a directory traversal vulnerability in the project task export endpoint. This flaw allows an attacker to download arbitrary files from the server by supplying a crafted JSON payload to the /api/project/task/export endpoint. The vulnerability arises because the file path is concatenated without normalization or boundary checks, enabling traversal outside the intended storage directory.

Technical Analysis

WookTeam v1.6.6 and prior versions are affected by a directory traversal vulnerability in the /api/project/task/export endpoint. The endpoint accepts a JSON payload with a file parameter that is concatenated directly into a storage path without validation. This lack of path normalization and directory boundary enforcement allows an attacker to escape the storage directory using '../' sequences and download any file readable by the web server process via response()->download().

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to read arbitrary files on the server that the web server process has permission to access. This could lead to disclosure of sensitive information stored on the server, potentially including configuration files, credentials, or other critical data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the vulnerable endpoint and ensure that the web server process has minimal file read permissions to limit exposure.
