Description

ApiAdmin versions 5.0 and earlier contain a directory traversal vulnerability in the admin file-upload endpoint. The endpoint allows authenticated admin users to upload files without validating file extensions or content. Uploaded files are stored in a web-accessible directory, enabling direct HTTP access. This flaw allows an attacker with admin credentials to upload and execute arbitrary PHP code on the server, resulting in remote code execution.

Technical Analysis

ApiAdmin v5.0 and prior versions have a directory traversal vulnerability in the POST /admin/Index/upload endpoint. The endpoint accepts uploaded files and uses the file extension as-is without any whitelist or blacklist validation or content inspection. The uploaded files are saved using move_uploaded_file() into the publicly accessible directory public/upload/Ymd/. Because of this, any authenticated admin user can upload a .php file and execute it remotely via HTTP, leading to remote code execution on the server.

Potential Impact

An authenticated admin user can exploit this vulnerability to upload and execute arbitrary PHP code on the server. This results in full remote code execution, potentially allowing complete compromise of the affected system.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict admin access to trusted users only and consider disabling or restricting file upload functionality in the admin interface.
