Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-88827 is an improper authentication vulnerability (CWE-287) in the Disable Users WordPress plugin through version 1.0.5. The plugin fails to enforce account disabling on all authentication mechanisms, enabling users whose accounts have been disabled by an administrator to still authenticate and retain their full privileges.

Potential Impact

Users who have been disabled by an administrator can still authenticate and access the system with their full privileges, potentially bypassing intended access restrictions and controls.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, administrators should consider alternative methods to restrict access or monitor for unauthorized use of disabled accounts.
