Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-88930 describes an SQL injection vulnerability in the Social Web Suite WordPress plugin through version 4.1.12. The vulnerability arises from the plugin not requiring its shared secret to be configured before accepting requests authorized by it, combined with improper sanitization and escaping of a parameter before its use in an SQL query. This allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious SQL commands, potentially compromising the underlying database.
Potential Impact
Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this vulnerability to perform SQL injection attacks, which may lead to unauthorized data access, data modification, or other database-related impacts depending on the database privileges of the application. The exact impact depends on the database and environment but generally represents a significant security risk.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, users should consider disabling the plugin or restricting access to it. Monitoring vendor channels for updates is recommended.
