Technical Analysis

The Tickera WordPress plugin versions prior to 3.6.0.4 contain an insufficient verification of data authenticity vulnerability (CWE-345). The plugin does not correctly verify the integrity of incoming payment notifications because the validated signature excludes the order and amount details. As a result, attackers can forge payment confirmations to fraudulently mark orders as paid.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to bypass payment verification, causing orders to be marked as paid without any actual payment. This can lead to financial loss for merchants using the affected Tickera plugin versions. There is no indication of confidentiality or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Tickera WordPress plugin to version 3.6.0.4 or later where this vulnerability is fixed. Since this is a plugin vulnerability and not a cloud service, manual patching by updating the plugin is required. Patch status is confirmed by the version information provided.
